Jr. Chef Central will provide a series of 5 hands-on cooking classes for 4th-6th grade students.  Each 1 hour and 45 minute assembly is designed to build the knowledge, confidence and skills of participants, and facilitated by a cooking instructor.  Each session will focus on increasing consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, recipe preparation and proper use of relevant culinary tools and equipment. 

During each session, one healthy dish will be prepared with an emphasis on the use of fresh seasonal produce.  ALL new recipes for the assemblies this year are: Spinach Yogurt Dip with Veggies for Dipping, Tortilla Pizzas, Southwest Ranch Salad, Chicken Tabbouleh and Fruit Sushi.

  • Date and Times: Monday, November 16- Friday November 20, 2015 from 1:30pm – 3:15pm.  Children will eat lunch prior to attending class
  • Location:  Crocker/Riverside Cafeteria
  • Students are required to have their hair pulled back and wear sneakers or other rubber soled, closed-toed shoes. 
  • One parent volunteer will be required before each session to assist with set-up, breakdown and students.  VolunteerSpot will be sent out to all participants for sign up options

This 7 day camp would cover a large part of the California History curriculum topics in fun living history sessions with artifacts and activities.  ‘Field trip’ topics are Primitive Man; Roman Life; Yokut Indians; Revolutionary War; Mountain Man; CA Gold Rush; Civil War. Activities to include:  marching drill , pine nut anklet; soapstone pendant; clay pot; loom weaving; flint and steel fire starting; quilt square sewing

  • Dates and Times:  All shortened days, Thursday to Friday, 11/12-19.  Children will eat lunch prior to attending class in courtyard.  Ready to work from 1:30-3:15pm (1 hour 45 minutes)
  • Location:  Crocker/Riverside Stage in the Auditorium
  • Open to 4th-6th graders.  Maximum of 30. 
  • Each parent (or other adult) will be required to attend one activity session to assist with the activities from 2:30 to 3:15pm.  VolunteerSpot will be sent out to all participants for sign up options
